Youngsters take petition to Council
Kenny Hargreaves ( 9 years old ) and younger brother Jensen ( 7 ) presented a petition to the Hay Shire Councillors at the
July Council meeting . Collecting one hundred and twenty eight signatures , the boys informed the Chamber that the BMX bike track was in need of attention . In his speech , Kenny said the track was in a poor state and that with upgrades three riders could compete around the track at the same time . Safety on the track is also an issue , according to the young petitioners . Although bikes can be ridden at the skate park , the style is more suited to older riders , BMX is a different style of riding . “ Some people say we can use the skate park ,” said Kenny , “ but the bike track covers a larger age group .” General Manager Alan Dwyer praised the boys for their initiative in bringing the problem to Councils attention and informed the boys that Council will asses the track .
