TELL ME A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF . WHEN DID YOU FIRST LEARN ABOUT CLASSICS ?
Mythology was my entry into classics because the stories are very accessible through the Percy Jackson book series . Mythology allows me to be creative , as I can express my understanding in so many different mediums .
Then , I started studying Latin and the historical context of the texts are mesmerizing . I often wonder about people and places where these events happened wanting to know more , and the only way to know more is by studying it .
HOW DID YOU HEAR ABOUT THE PETRINO AWARD ?
I heard about it from my teacher , though I did not imagine I would be selected as a recipient . I am very glad I made the time to apply and really enjoyed the process of reflecting about my life and the lives of others !

WHY DO YOU LIKE THE STUDY OF CLASSICS AND MYTHOLOGY SPECIFICALLY ? WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MYTH ? I am interested in stories about people and places , whether it be real or imaginary places , and whether it be about humans or deities . Mythology is especially interesting because of its cultural elements . My favorite myth is that of Pyramus and Thisbe . I find this myth interesting because it was a romantic tragedy akin to Romeo and Juliet that was written to explain the color of a mulberry . It is interesting that someone would write something of this depth to explain the appearance of an everyday object .
