A Fun Day in the Sun
By Aaron Feldman
It was a warm, sunny day... the perfect day to celebrate Lag Ba-omer. Actually on "Lad" (The 34th of the Omer), Pressman students ran around at the park and participated in a series of Lag Ba-omer activities. Students learned and sang traditional Lag Ba-omer tunes with Josh Warshawsky. Students learned about the hag from Rabbi Tureff and were pleasantly surprised when their answers were rewarded with lollipops. Other activities were created and led by groups of 8th graders. Students ran through an obstacle course in which they had to hula-hoop while going through a series of cones, a difficult feat, jump rope,
and jump through an agility ladder--all this while answering
questions such as “How many students of Rabbi Akiba died?” and “Why did the disease stop?”
This station left everyone giggling as they watched their friends blunder somewhat pathetically. Additionally, to cool off in the heat, the students played capture the flag with a twist... water balloons. Luckily, a perpetrator who will remain nameless, had the brilliance to throw a balloon at Ms. Tiger. It just had to be done. Just to run around, the Middle Schoolers played dodgeball and a football game. This fun day of playing and shouting was a great way to celebrate Lag Ba-omer which many enjoyed.
