COMMUNITY GUIDE 2026
Head librarian Nancy Bunting welcomes visitors to the St. Michael-Albertville-Hanover Library. Not only does the library remain a vibrant destination in this digital age, it has many programs to offer all ages.
Originally named the Roy Simms Library, the library opened in 1989 and was previously housed in the city’ s Colonial Mall. The new library opened in December 2010.
One of the 33 branches of the Great River Regional Library system( headquartered in St. Cloud), the St. Michael Library has seen a 40 % increase in circulation in the year since its opening in the new space. The library houses a bright and airy space in which to serve patrons.
There are two study rooms available and a large multi-purpose room available for programming. Its nine staff members and the many library programs and services benefit the communities and also support literacy and the joy of reading at any age. The programs offered at the library vary from a weekly preschool story time to author / illustrator events, concerts, craft events and technology classes.
Recent additions to the library are pickleball kits and snowshoes, which can be checked out for one week. Programs are always free of charge, and many require registration. Many of the events are funded through Minnesota’ s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
