New Academic Programs B.A. in Outdoor Leadership in Education B.B.A. in Entrepreneurship (major or minor) Prepares students for positions in outdoor education and/or adventure centers; guiding/outfitting companies; not-for-profit and private campus; resorts, spas and wellness centers; state and national parks; campus recreation and youth development programs. Prepares students to launch their own for-profit businesses, serve as managers of family businesses, act as intrapreneurs within existing corporations or manage nonprofit businesses. Integrates the biological sciences with core business courses to prepare leaders for the challenges of the evolving health care industry. Program prepares students for graduate studies, managing small medical clinics/health care practices or large hospital administrative leadership. Focuses on communities as “patients” and addresses health issues of entire populations, like disease prevention in rural and poor populations, emerging infectious diseases, aging populations and healthy lifestyle choices. A collaboration between the Division of Athletic Training and Shenandoah Conservatory, this certificate program educates health care professionals and performing arts educators in the prevention, assessment and management of injuries and disorders specific to dancers, theatre artists and musicians. Prepares professionals to design environments that establish beneficial changes in behaviors. Graduates serve a variety of populations, ranging from individuals with developmental and learning disabilities, traumatic brain injuries; families experiencing challenges managing their children; to business professionals seeking to improve the performance of individuals in their organizations. Provides teachers with an advanced degree in special education.
