EARLY LEARNING PHILOSOPHY
ACADEMIC SKILLS
Children learn through hands-on classroom experiences . Curricula aligns with the Minnesota state standards and promotes skill development in all areas needed for Kindergarten . Research-based curriculum is used , including Creative Curriculum , Early Childhood Workshop , Second Step and SEEDS early literacy foundations . Teachers measure individual child progress in our comprehensive online assessment tool , Teaching Strategies Gold .
EARLY CHILDHOOD SCREENING
Early childhood screening is required for Preschool and is required for Kindergarten entrance . District 622 recommends that screening is completed when your child turns three . Screening offers a snapshot of your child ’ s health and development and may indicate the need for further health or developmental assessment . This screening time allows time for intervention ( if needed ) before the start of Kindergarten . If your family receives tuition assistance , the funding sources require that Early Childhood Screening must be completed prior to your child ' s attendance and no later than 90 days after the first day of attendance . If your child is not screened within this timeframe , your child may lose their scholarship . To schedule an appointment , please call 651-702-8468 .
