A sure sign that business is booming is the back-to-back store openings of Rustan’s Supermarkets in two prominent cities in the South.  A brand-new branch was opened in Evia City, a master-planned integrated community in Las Piñas, while Rustan’s Ayala Alabang Village branch was reopened, unveiling spacious interiors and a more modern look.  Rustan’s Supercenters Inc. (RSCI) president Donnie Tantoco said the company is tapping into more markets “whose lifestyle needs we can also address, giving them a quick shopping experience that ensures S wedish furniture retailer Ikea plans to enter the Philippines. Christian Rojkjaer, MD of Ikano Retail Asia, the franchisee of the retailer in the region, says the market is ready for Ikea. Rojkjaer has met the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) for an investment briefing. “What I see is a population with families that like their homes. That’s what we’re selling,” said Rojkjaer. Aware of the competition that awaits, Rojkjaer believes the country offers a big market for the brand and welcomes competition. “I think we will make a lot of the suppliers here even better by competing with us,” he said.
