Dr. Ashley Hoders is originally from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She earned her BA in Psychology, Biology, and Exercise Science at the George Washington University in Washington, DC, where she was also a Division I All-American Student-Athlete (Swimming).

She then returned to Florida to attend the University of Florida College of Dentistry, where she earned her dental degree, graduating with research honors and receiving awards for ethics and professionalism, periodontics, and prosthodontics. She contributed to the literature and the fields of periodontics and women’s health during her time at Florida by her research involving oral health and pregnancy education. It was here that the faculty noticed her talents and encouraged her to pursue specialty training. She decided to wait on that idea for a few years, but went on to complete advanced training in general dentistry at the Baltimore College of Dentistry in Maryland. She then entered private practice in Ellicott City, Maryland, where she served the community by practicing family general dentistry. Her sincere interests in creating valuable relationships, making patients feel like family, and inter-disciplinary treatment planning were highlighted during time at the L.D. Pankey Institute as well as participation in a Spear Study Club.

Her passion ultimately contributed to the decision to return to school to pursue post- graduate training in both Periodontics and Prosthodontics. The University of Texas Health Science Center-San Antonio came to serve as her home for the next 5 years, where she became the sixth graduate and the first female to complete this dual specialty program, being awarded specialty certificates in both Periodontics and Prosthodontics. While in San Antonio, she earned a Master’s degree in the school of Biological Science and contributed to advancing the fields of both Periodontics and Prosthodontics with her research involving timing of implant placement and its influence on esthetic outcome over time. During residency, she was involved with courses including complex diagnosis and treatment planning, surgically facilitated orthodontics, treatment of the gummy smile, and full arch rehabilitation. She also developed and instructed a three-part lecture series and hands on workshop involving implant provisionalization during her time in San Antonio.

Ashley joined Oral Health Specialists in 2015 and has followed the tradition of providing education to the community. She has begun two additional study clubs locally, one for dentists and one for hygienists.  Her practice has grown over these two years, and in the near future, she will begin to teach at national conferences. She is currently a member of the American College of Prosthodontists, American Academy of Periodontology, Southwest Society of Periodontics, and the American Dental Association.
