AP Statistics

AP Statistics is a rigorous mathematics course taught by Mr . Kirkland , who also teaches other math classes such as Precalculus , Calculus , Algebra I and II , and Geometry at the high school . The course is designed to prepare students for the AP test by teaching them various statistical concepts . Statistics , a branch of applied mathematics , involves collecting , describing , analyzing , and drawing conclusions from quantitative data . The subject relies heavily on differential and integral calculus , linear algebra , and probability theory . Students also perform real life samples and experiments to work from , such as surveys about specific topics which help us to create different dotplots and histograms . Counting candy to create hypotheses , and even measuring ourselves for class data ! Each of the activities that we do relates to a different topic we are learning about that week . Academic Statistics classes do similar activities which include simpler versions of what the AP classes do !
