AP Government

Blue vs . Gold Debate

On December 22nd 2022 , PTHS held their annual AP Government debate hosting the blue and gold parties . Both parties are required to have platforms with ideas that they want to implement into the school and have 2 people running for president and vice president . For the gold party : Emily Foti ran for President and Maxwell Steinberg ran for vice president . The blue party : Khalil Pirbai ran for president and Skye Durr ran for vice president . Both parties worked very hard to promote their candidates and platforms and in the end the Gold Party won .

From the desk of Mrs . Cohen :

AP U . S . Government and Politics is a course designed to enhance our understanding of the foundational concepts that influenced the creation of our nation and Constitution . We then apply that to making modern day connections to current government institutions and political processes . Our course work , discussions , resources , and projects provide insight into relevant topics and modern information that connects to our everyday lives as Americans .
While our short term goal is to prepare for the national AP U . S . Government and Politics examination in May , the long-term benefits extend beyond that as we become more informed and active citizens in our country . Our success as a democracy depends on our understanding of and participation in the government process . Feedback from students who have completed our course consistently emphasizes how the knowledge they ’ ve gained is applicable in a variety of ways well beyond high school !
