Shanna : Where did you two meet ? Tupelo : ( looking over at Tonya ) Do you remember ? I ' ll let you go first . I want to see if you
remember .
Tonya : ( giggling ) No you go ! ( laughing then giving in ) At a party ! He was sitting outside in a car
with a friend of his .
Tupelo : Tell the whole story ! Tonya : ( giggling louder ) Tupelo : We were at a party and I was
sitting in the car with one of my homeboys and she was with her cousin when she saw me and asked who I was .
Tonya : ( giggling turns laughter )
Shanna : Tupelo , when did you know that
Tonya was the one ?
Tupelo : Well , Tonya was in high school
when we met and her mom was really strict . I couldn ' t call her . There was something special about her . She was a natural beauty . She never wore any makeup and she was just beautiful . That was very different from the other women around . Tonya was a natural beauty . I would try to call and talk to her and her mom wouldn ' t let me talk to her on the phone .
Tonya : ( laughing ) My mom would say to
him " don ' t call here anymore " but he would call anyway .
Tupelo : I wish Tonya would go back to wearing no makeup . She is beautiful !! She didn ' t wear
any lip gloss , any eyeshadow , no nothing because she is naturally beautiful !
Tonya : I didn ' t start wearing makeup until recently .
Shanna : How did you guys start connecting since Tonya ' s mom wouldn ' t allow her to date
you ?
Tupelo : We still would see each other . Tonya got pregnant with our first child and had a
miscarriage . I was very supportive of her through that time . Her mom would let me see Tonya after that personal tragedy in our life . I believe that helped us to connect even more as one .
Tonya : Yes , we started connecting then . After I graduated , I went to Horry Georgetown
Technical College to study . Pelo didn ' t want me to go away to school .
Tupelo : No wayyyyyy ! I have been to college campuses and know what happens there !
