Like many other less developed countries, Ethiopia relies on agriculture entirely too much. Less Developed Countries (N) – A non-industrialized or Third World Country (Dictionary). They continue to over farm the land, rely on coffee as the main source of export income, and the lack of infrastructure. Infrastructure (N) – The basic physical and organization structures and facilities needed for the operation of a society or enterprise (Dictionary). Depending on coffee growth, the economy fails due to numerous droughts they faced. When their main crop coffee failed them, they were left in a hardship without any money to buy necessary food. With the country lacking infrastructure the farmers are put in a disadvantage, because they don’t have roads where they can travel to trade (Oliver Joy). Ethiopia has the lowest road density per capita in the world (Oliver Joy). If the farmers were able to travel using the roads they could go to larger markets to buy products at a lower price and sell their crops at a higher market price. Market Price (N) – The price of a commodity when sold in a given market (Dictionary) . Due to many of the rural areas being many miles away from large cities, it takes days or even weeks to reach them. Education also contributes to the poverty in Ethiopia. Many jobs in the area require a certain level of education that many residents in the country do
