High school students with at least a 3.0 high school GPA can earn college credit through UA Early College at The University of Alabama . With online and on-campus classes , students can earn up to 30 credit hours while they ’ re still in high school . Our convenient course options provide flexibility for students involved in extracurricular activities to get ahead around their busy schedules . In-state students are eligible for a 50 % discount in tuition , which is already charged at the lower UA distance rate , and additional book scholarships are available . Starting in the Fall 2022 semester , UA Early College students will be able to take the one-of-a-kind UAEC 200 College Readiness course for free .
