ASSIGNMENT SUBMISSION EXTENSION REQUEST Circumstances may arise which prevent the submission of your assignment such as: ? ? ? Sickness / illness Written notification of work based circumstances that can be confirmed by the placement preceptor / manager Written notification of work – based circumstances that interfere with study and that are notified to academic staff
If any of these apply to you it may be possible to arrange an extension to your assignment submission. You should contact the programmes manager in writing at the earliest opportunity advising the circumstances which have occurred, when they occurred and over what period of time. Extension requests must be received at least one week in advance of the assessment submission date for consideration by the Programme Manager. The length of extension will be determined by the programme manager and would normally be one week. In exceptional circumstances it is possible that a longer extension may be given. MITIGATING CIRCUMSTANCES Mitigation relates to unanticipated circumstances which have seriously affected your ability to study and academic performance. It is possible to request that consideration be given to circumstances which may have affected your performance. If you think there have been circumstances or events that may affect your study you should submit a mitigation form, this may not be used in the event of a pass grade but should be on record in the event of appeal. ? ? Circumstances which have seriously affected your performance will be passed to the Examinations Board for consideration. Circumstances should be reported in advance or at the time of assignment submission on the mitigating circumstances form and may not be submitted retrospectively.
