VIRTUAL PRIVATE NETWORKING (VPN) SERVICE The UoD Virtual Private Network (VPN) service is a system designed to provide authorised users with remote access to University of Dundee services from off-campus locations, using home broad band or public networks. It provides a secure connection across the Internet and is designed to support learning and teaching. http://www.dundee.ac.uk/ics/services/vpn/ VPN is required to access Netstore for off-campus access and management of files stored on the central file service over the Internet. This service is not available on-campus. The UoD VPN service uses client software on your local PC to establish a secure VPN connection across the Internet. You need to provide a suitably specified and configured computer together with a suitable Internet connection (such as a Broadband service). Accurate referencing and the currency of references are important aspects of postgraduate study and regarded as essential components of the degree and professional practice. Write attributes in MyDundee has links and resources on all aspects of academic writing, referencing and plagiarism. In addition the school has detailed instructions on referencing available in the information and library skills within the post qualifying students’ area of My Dundee. From the menu on the left click on “information and library skills” then “using the library to access evidence” then half way down the page to “referencing skills” where you will find a word document which provides the detail and examples of referencing. This can be viewed online or downloaded and printed. Additionally there are also many good resources about Harvard referencing available online which you will be directed to.
