Similarly, confidential information such as that which identifies practice learning environments or individuals encountered within those should never be included within discussion boards. Any material of this type will be removed by the module leader. Serious breaches of confidentiality will be dealt with according to the School policy. SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES / CHAT ROOMS Students should never use pubic or unauthorised electronic forums such as social networking sites or chat rooms to discuss their experiences of caring for patients, their families, colleagues or staff whilst undertaking their programme of study Exemptions Where it is necessary to include material which is confidential in nature to prove authenticity of work, students should contact the School for guidance to ensure that no penalty will be applied or comment made. This policy relates to any written material within the following: WRITTEN ASSIGNMENTS Minor breaches include: ? ? Inclusion of material such as ‘intake/output’ charts which identify the patient but which represent an insignificant proportion to the volume of work Potential breaches, for example where an attempt has been made to conceal patient identity but the details are still recognisable. In these cases a comment would be made but no deduction to grades would be applied. Intermediate breaches include: ? Repeated inclusion of material which breaches confidentiality, demonstrating a failure to adhere to assignment guidelines but with no obvious malicious intent. In these cases the grade awarded would be downgraded by one band e.g. A3 to B3 or D3 to MF. Exams and Assessments staff will record the breach in the student’s file and notify the personal teacher.
