You can expect 10 hours of teaching time every week ( three-four hours for part time ), made up of lectures and tutorials . We do our best to keep all full-time teaching within three days ( two days for part time ), leaving you the rest of the week for work experience or selfguided study . You ’ ll be able to access the hardware and labs you need whenever you ’ re on campus . In the last three months of the course you ’ ll be focusing on your research project .

Cybercrime ( Distance Learning ) MSc Advance your knowledge of cybercrime , delving into the criminal and harmful behaviours that are facilitated through the use of digital technologies .
Discover the reasons behind online deviant and criminal activity ( unlike the study of cyber security , which focuses on technical approaches to preventing and tackling the activity itself ). Understand and address the behavioural and social elements that motivate people to turn to cybercrime , identifying offender characteristics and the main victims of cybercrime .
Collaborate with specialists in the cybercrime field through the University of Portsmouth ’ s Cybercrime Awareness Clinic , and our affiliations with the National Cyber Security Centre ( NCSC ), local constabularies , and regional organised crime units .
Assess new online harms such as bullying , harassment and technology-facilitated sexual violence , as well as potential shortfalls in legislation . Explore online power dynamics ; public and private responses to cybercrime ; and the regulatory influences that impact upon behaviour online ; gaining the skills needed to help make the online world a safer place .
