Advance your business knowledge and gain
the skills to operate from a global perspective.
Specifically designed for recent graduates and
those in the early stages of their career, this
course will build on your undergraduate credentials
and further strengthen your business skills.
This course has a business-oriented focus, seeking
to advance your knowledge of the international
environment in which firms and their managers
operate considering issues such as international
trade and the internationalisation of operations.
You’ll develop expertise in communicating and
negotiating across cultures, and enhance your
capacity for advanced analysis of firm
internationalisation, corporate strategy, and more.
Graduates develop deep knowledge and analytical
skills that can be applied in a variety of organisational
settings including the corporate, governmental and
non-profit sectors. Career opportunities are available
in a range of private firms and multinational
enterprises across the manufacturing and service,
export and trade, travel and tourism, consulting and
research sectors. Employment opportunities also
arise in government departments and institutions,
non-profits, and international organisations.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, you should have:
• developed the capacity for high-level analysis of
international and transnational investment,
trade, and management strategy in the context
of globalisation
• acquired key skills in communication and
negotiation across business cultures

SECTION C
Four graduate-level units (24 points), subject to
approval from the course coordinator, and
a maximum of two units (12 points) that may be
taken from other schools:
• International economics
• Innovation and entrepreneurship
• Global supply chain management
• Asian business systems
• International issues in employment law
• Current issues in international finance
• International study program in international
business
• Applied business project.
Part-time classes are held on weekdays.

This degree offers a research pathway into the
Monash Doctoral Program (PhD). You’ll complete,
as part of the elective component, the following
three units:
• Introductory management research methods
• Research report (introduction)
• Research report (double unit).

SECTION A
Four units (24 points) from the following:
• Accounting for business
• Economics
• Business statistics
• Marketing and the international consumer. This course offers a study tour as an elective
summer unit. You’ll go on site visits to local and
international organisations, companies and
institutions which will help you to gain a better
understanding of the impact of that location’s
environment on business and its implications
for management.
SECTION B
Eight core units (48 points) as follows:
• International business theory and practice
• International management Our students have been to China, Japan, Hong
Kong, India and Korea where they’ve visited
companies such as Boeing, Crédit Agricole,
Hewlett-Packard and Samsung.
