But what will the industry think about all these changes? Is it easy to put these actions into practice? Are they already taking measures in this direction?

We went to find out the opinion of some companies on this subject.

Circular Design is already a well-defined concept in our industry, which understands that it is necessary to "create long-lasting products that can be reused or easily repaired, thus minimizing waste and environmental impact". It is everyone's opinion that this trend is growing, not only because of the "growing awareness about environmental problems, but also because of the legislation launched by political and governmental entities, which requires us to be more responsible and to take certain measures to promote circularity of products", as stated by BEGOLUX. Although it can be a major challenge for many sectors and companies, this change in thinking can also attract new business opportunities. WONDERLIGHT believes that "environmental awareness is growing and consumers are looking for more sustainable products and more ecologically aware companies. Circular Design proposes an innovative approach to production, promotes resource savings and waste reduction. In addition, it can also create new business opportunities and encourage collaboration between companies".

But will it be easy to define strategies and put actions into practice?

The challenges throughout the entire process are huge, but "depending on the complexity of the product and the production process, it may be necessary to rethink the design, the materials used, packaging and logistics". Our companies end up having some advantage, as they use a variety of raw materials and many of these materials are resistant, durable and easy to recycle, such as wood, aluminum, cork, fabrics, ceramics or glass ( used by CRISBASE), "there is a large percentage of waste resulting from the production of our parts that is reused in the composition used to produce new glass. In other words, we have the natural advantage that glass has always offered us". In addition to the materials, versatile pieces are also created that can fit into various environments, pieces that can be customized by the customer to minimize the waste of resources and the accumulation of stock, the use of LED technology that allows the repair of the luminaires without damaging the parts and there is an awareness of choosing suppliers who share the same values, as mentioned by S. BERNARDO, VALDITARO and PAULO COELHO.

Companies want to be an active and participating element in this new reality and are committed to continuing to explore and implement solutions that improve the effectiveness of circular design.
