IMPORTS

According to Comtrade, Czech imports were worth USD 212 billion in 2021 (USD 171 billion in 2020). The five main groups of imported products were Machinery and Equipment (37.4% of the total), Common Metals (10.7% of the total), Vehicles and Other Transport Material (9.3% of the total), Chemical Products (9.1% of the total) and Plastics and Rubber (6.8% of the total).

According to Comtrade, the top five Czech suppliers in 2021 were Germany (22.4% of the total), China (16.7% of the total), Poland (8.2% of the total), Slovakia (4.4% of the total) and Italy (4.2% of the total). These countries together represented 55.9% of the value of imports.

EXPORTS

According to Comtrade, Czech exports were worth USD 227 billion in 2021 (USD 192 billion in 2020). The five main groups of exported products were Machinery and Devices (37.5% of the total), Vehicles and Other Transport Material (18.7% of the total), Common Metals (9.0% of the total), Plastics and Rubber (5.7% of the total) and Chemicals (5.4% of the total).

According to Comtrade, the top five Czech customer markets in 2021 were Germany (32.4% of the total), Slovakia (8.1% of the total), Poland (6.7% of the total) , France (4.6% of the total) and Austria (4.5% of the total). These countries together represented 56.3% of the value of exports.

TRADE BALANCE WITH PORTUGAL

According to Comtrade, Czechia recorded a surplus of USD 15 billion in 2021, which represents a decrease of USD 4,012 million compared to 2017 and USD 5,550 million compared to 2020. Coverage of imports by exports stood at 107.2%, 4.9pp below that recorded in 2020.
