Big-Box Store to Be Converted to Life-Sciences Space
Developers announced in December 2021 that they planned to transform a vacant building formerly housing a Kmart into a space for the life sciences . The building , located on Fayetteville Road ( U . S . 401 ), will be renovated to create a modern , highly amenitized laboratory and production environment for life-science users .
Federal Funds Obtained for Downtown
U . S . House Rep . Deborah Ross notified the Town in spring 2022 that she had secured $ 1,030,405 in federal funding for a comprehensive rehabilitation of the Main Street-Rand Mill Road intersection , as well as creation of 59 new paved parking spots in Downtown Garner .
