no opportunity to retake l goes on student’s file permanently l after hours community service at school l if repeat offense, suspension l Sources: Sacred Heart MS and HS faculty Attendance Absence l In case of absence: l a telephone call or an email from a parent is required before 9:00 am. l a doctor's certificate is required for absences due to illness for longer than three days. l Appointments for the doctor or dentist should be made during holidays and after school hours. Parents are asked not to take students out of school during scheduled school days. Excursions, trips, and holidays should be planned during school vacation periods. Teachers are not required to set work for students who are absent. It is the responsibility of the student to catch up on missed work when they return to school. Students who are not well enough to come to school are considered not well enough to do work or homework and should be focusing on resting and getting well. In the case of a student being absent ten (10) days per semester, or twenty (20) over the course of the year, or more absences, or repeated tardiness, a student may not be given credit for the year or may fail individual courses. In the event of parents traveling, it is necessary to inform the school office in writing the dates when parents will be absent from Tokyo and who is caring for the student in the parents' absence. Students should not be left home alone. See Absent Parent Policy. If a student is too sick to attend school, she is not permitted to participate in extra- curricular activities on the day of her absence.
