Are You A Beginner?

Most people just jump into pole dancing, but in reality, it may be safe to consult your doctor before starting your pole journey. Just like any other work out or anything health related, your primary physician should know what your fitness routine includes.

Stretching before any work out is very important. It helps you to become more relaxed and limber, making the process a little easier. Yoga goes well with pole dancing. You can even do yoga moves and poses during everyday tasks. Even while sitting in a chair. Stretch as often as you can.

Be sure to purchase the right pole before you begin. You didn't hear it from us, but don't go to the mall and purchase your pole from spencers. If you do, you'll find out why you should NOT have bought it. Xpole is the most popular brand and costs a few hundred bucks. Amazon.com has some great poles that are stable and prices are very reasonable.

If you plan on being self taught, find a company that offers pole tutorials. YouTube is a good source, but you want to find someone who offers step by step routines. That is pretty hard to find on YouTube.

Practicing on the pole 3-4 times a week is good enough. You don't want to over do it, you want to make sure your body gets the rest it needs. Go to the spa in between if necessary, you'll need those muscles to relax after all that practice.

Most beginners should learn pole dancing on a static pole. Using a static pole helps you learn how your body works. We like to call it "getting to know the pole." Eventually you can transition to the spinning pole.
