Unimaginable things that happened because of ‘Pokémon Go’
Institutions like the museums and zoos are offering discounts for Pokemon Go players. Also, other locations such as theme parks have been attracting visitors by hosting special events loaded with Pokémon characters to find.
Players are accidentally meeting new people and going on dates with them. It is even said that Pokemon Go is replacing Tinder. It is a very useful tool since you meet someone with a common interest and engaged in the same activity than you.
Although this game makes new couples, it also breaks some. For example, one man said he was busted cheating on his girlfriend after the game showed her he had caught a Pokémon at his ex’s house.
Independent drivers have been charging $25 or more per hour to take players over a ride so they can gather characters.
Expert Pokémon Go players have also been selling their accounts, sometimes for hundreds of dollars, to people who are just getting started in the game.
The 9/11 Memorial and the Holocaust Memorial Museum had to ask people to stop playing the game in the vicinities since, obviously, it was inappropriate.
Psychology behind Pokémon Go
As everyone knows, Pokémon Go has been a very successful game. But, why are so many adults interested in this silly game? A good reason can be the nostalgia. Many years ago, people used to play with the Pokémon trading cards and video games. As time went by, people stopped playing. Today with this new app, people became addicted again. This is because the Pokémon Go app reminds them of their childhood and helps them remember the fun times.
Another reason for being addicted is the idea of socializing with others players. When they are walking around their neighborhoods, cities, and country, they can make new friends by starting with an easy conversation about the game. Beside this, the influence of the social media is affecting everyone. Internet memes come up and people are chatting about their experiences. The more people talk about it online, the more likely they are to keep playing.
