Suggested activities to reduce your knowledge gap in section 9

Basic Understanding : 0-12
Familiarise yourself with the known investments planned for your railway in the future . Consider how this has been approved and which strategies they are part of ( national , city , organisational level ?) What is the innovation and new technologies within these investments ? Ask people close to the projects to discuss the relationship between the capital expenditure on the projects and the operational expenditure . Who owns the assets and how is it to be funded and maintained ?
Moderate Understanding : 13-26
Find out where your company customers may interface with a different type of rail ( e . g . tram / train , cable car ) and work out the operating and engineering for the track systems , power supply and distribution systems and formation and structure components for the alternative rail system .
Good Understanding : 27-39 mechanical , electrical and electronic communications , consider a section of the route used by your company and over a period of time ensure you know the main componentry in each discipline and how they interface .
