Sixth Form Sixth Form is a time to extend intellectual independence, follow passions – and aim high. We support students individually to develop their strengths and become well-rounded young adults who achieve on their own terms. Small classes, led by academic specialists, make the focus required at this level both stimulating and enjoyable. Students choose their own programme of study from a broad and diverse curriculum of A levels and BTECs. Lectures and presentations delivered by visiting experts also promote original and cross-disciplinary thought. Creative thinking, problem-solving and effective teamwork are increasingly prized in an ever-changing workplace and we focus on building these skills alongside academic excellence. Students select options from a range of enrichment qualifications to extend their academic portfolio. A breadth of co-curricular activities offers a refreshing change of perspective as well as developing confidence and resilience. Our students contribute to the wider life of the school by taking on leadership roles and responsibilities. Specialist staff support students with personal development as well as UCAS, job applications and further study. Our in-house careers service provides excellent information and advice, and the Old Pocklingtonian Association and Careers and Business Network are both valuable sources of work experience and insight. β€œIn our spacious, friendly Sixth Form Centre, mutual support and camaraderie abound.” 11
