Boarding at Pocklington
Above all, boarding at Pocklington School is about community, friendships
and fun. Our junior and senior boarding houses are overseen by
experienced and committed staff who want the very best for each and every
one of our boarders.
Children thrive in the calm routine and consistent boundaries, and love the
fact they have continued access to many of the school’s facilities at the end
of the school day.
Our safe, rural location in a small, friendly market town, 30 minutes away
from York, means there is plenty to keep everyone happy. We are fortunate
to live and work in such a beautiful part of the country and our boarders
certainly enjoy the privilege of the 50 acre site as their back garden!
Each boarding house is managed by a team of caring, professional staff who
are always available to share the ups and downs of the day. There are many
varied evening and weekend activities and trips – and our boarding parents
enjoy the @PockBoarding Twitter feed.
Boarding inspires for life – it teaches young people to live and work
together harmoniously and to develop an understanding of other cultures
and opinions. It also builds the self-confidence, resilience and emotional
maturity that sets boarders apart long before they leave for university
or the workplace.
“Boarding has prepared me in many ways – from interacting with new people,
to learning to manage my time effectively – clearly useful skills for university
and everyday life. Take the opportunity and get stuck in! It’s been amazing
and well worth it! The bonds you build here will change your life forever…”
