Diary Dates Memorable Music Society performance Summer Term Wednesday 17 July – Pocklington School will be at Driffield Show, stand U335 Thursday 15 August – A level results day Thursday 22 August – GCSE results day Michaelmas Term This year’s return of the Music Society was capped with a triumphant concert by a 110-strong choir and 45-piece orchestra which will last long in the memory of those involved. Students, OPs, parents and friends of the school performed a selection of choral music by Fauré and Parry at All Saint’s Church, Pocklington. The programme began with Parry’s coronation anthem I Was Glad, continued to main work, Fauré’s Requiem, and concluded with Parry’s Blest Pair of Sirens. The choir performed beautifully, with notable solo performances by OPs Iona Kaye and Sam Hird, and violinist Harry Kneeshaw (U6) led the orchestra superbly in I Was Glad. Conductor Martin Kettlewell, who leaves this summer, inspired a truly unforgettable performance which delighted all who attended. Good luck to our 2019 leavers!
