Sport
This term has seen outstanding achievements across our summer sports programme. The U15 Boys’ Cricket team impressed with a strong cup run, underpinned by excellent teamwork and individual performances. In the 1st XI, two players reached the significant milestone of scoring centuries- an exceptional achievement in school cricket. Girls’ Cricket continues to flourish, with both Lower and Middle School teams enjoying success. Several girls have also reached individual milestones, reflecting growing confidence and development within the programme. In athletics, our pupils shone at the
English Schools’ Athletics Cup, delivering standout individual and team performances. Participation and performance levels in athletics remain high, showcasing the depth of talent across year groups. Tennis has seen excellent engagement across all ages, supporting both performance and wellbeing. A particular highlight saw the U18 Boys progress to the second day of the prestigious Eton competition. Overall, the term reflects continued growth in both participation and performance across all sports.

End of year thank you from the Friends of Pocklington School
Just to say a huge thank you from the FOPS for your continued support this year.
Our Winter Ball was a huge success for the second consecutive year. Thank you to everyone who bought tickets, donated raffle prizes and joined us on the night for dinner, drinks, dancing and lots of fun!
Our second hand uniform sales continue to be very popular with parents. Your donations are much appreciated. Please look out for more details next year as to where and when we’ ll be holding more sales.
We are thrilled to have made donations to several departments across the school to support things such as CCF, Archery Club, Shape The Future Bursary Fund, Warhammer
Club, Bowlng Machine, Dugouts at the Astros, PA system, re-wilding near the art and design centre and The Namibia Trip.
FOPS is not just about fundraising though. We want to create a community feel for families and would LOVE your support next year in doing this.
Please look out for more information in September about upcoming events.
In the meantime please SAVE THE DATE of Saturday 6th December for our next FOPS and FOPPS Winter Ball!
We wish you all a fab summer. The FOPS Committee
Pock Connects
Earlier this term, we were delighted to welcome back OPs Roger Leung( 90 – 98) and Charles Funnell( 82 – 87), who returned to Pocklington School to share their career journeys with students as part of the Pock Connects Bitesize programme.
Roger, who is based in Hong Kong, has over 20 years’ experience in the food import and export industry, with a particular focus on meat. He was keen to talk to students about the dynamics of international trade, and the unique way different markets and cultures operate globally.
Charles studied French and Politics at the University of Bristol before embarking on a successful career in commodities. With more than two decades of international experience, first with major corporations and later as an entrepreneur, he offered students valuable insights into his career path. Charles also championed the importance of language learning, highlighting the personal and professional advantages it can bring in opening doors across cultures and industries.
Current students interested in connecting with the Pock Connects network, or parents keen to share their career journey, are encouraged to contact the OP Office at opoffice @ pocklingtonschool. com. Parents can also join the Pock Connects group on LinkedIn: https:// www. linkedin. com / groups / 1878725
