Drama

The annual House Drama competition was a night to remember . The audience was blown away by the great performances from all four houses . The hard work and dedication put into each performance was evident on stage , and it was a tough decision for the judges to choose the winner . In the end , Wilberforce was awarded the trophy for their outstanding performance of ' Charlie and the Chocolate Factory ', which showcased a variety of characters and had the largest ensemble .
However , all the Heads of House should be commended for their leadership roles in directing their House ' s performance . Hutton ' s ' Alice in Wonderland ' was a great example of teamwork and dedication , with the pupils working together to create a weird and wonderful world . Gruggen ' s ' Peter Pan ' was a lovely retelling of the well-known story , with a particularly amusing crocodile . Dolman ' s ' The Witches ' was as creepy as the original Roald Dahl story , with the ensemble bringing the Witches ' meeting to life . Overall , it was a fantastic evening celebrating the talent and creativity of our pupils .

Arts Week

‘ This House believes that studying the Arts is essential for a civilised and forward-thinking society ’ was the notion that our Middle School Debating Club were thrashing out during our Arts Week extravaganza . And if Arts Week proved anything , it was the affirmation of that statement . The Foundation pulled together to celebrate everything from marbling and singing to acting , fiddling , drawing , dancing and exhibiting ! It was a wonderful opportunity to showcase the talents of our staff and pupils , to appreciate the joy which the Arts can bring and for us all to celebrate the skills of others within the Arts , even if those skills differ from our own . Arts Week was a very memorable week for the Pocklington School Foundation - we already can ’ t wait for next year !
