Boarding

It has been a fun filled term in boarding with trips off-site including ‘ The Deep ’ aquarium and ‘ Laser tag ’. We have also had ‘ zorbing ’ and archery on the school site . At the end of January we celebrated the arrival of the Chinese New Year with a fantastic feast at boarders ’ supper and presentations in Main School . We continued to celebrate our international boarders ’ culture with an ‘ Eritrean and Egyptian ’ supper where the food was described by several people as the best they had ever had at the School . My thanks to Paul Freeman-Hacker and his team , and all the boarders who have been involved in organising these events .
Miss Thackray returns from maternity leave after Easter . This means that Mrs Hall and her team will be moving back to Orchard as we re-open our junior boarding house in the summer . My thanks to all the boarding staff and the Faircote / Orchard girls for making such a success of the joint house for the last two terms .
Have a great Easter . Steve Greaves , Head of Boarding

Charity

It was great to be able to run a fully interactive / no bubbles " Charity Week " this year . Lots of exciting events took place , including the hugely popular " Staff Gunging " alongside lots of tutor group events that kept all ages and interests entertained , as well as raising money for our 4 chosen Charities this year : World Land Trust , Save The Children , MacMillan Cancer support and OSCARS Paediatric Brain Tumour Charity . We are also looking forward to running the School Walk in June this year , where the students will all gather important sponsorship money and walk the Yorkshire Wolds ! We will , of course , keep families and friends updated on our total amounts raised as we progress through the term .
