Pock Connects HR leaders inspire Business Enterprise students
Students gained practical insights into workplace culture and innovation through talks from Emma Taylor and Laura Saunders of Phoenix Software, who highlighted how trust, open communication and supportive leadership foster creativity, confidence and collaborative problem solving. Georgina Hill( née Edwards, 95 – 04) from Abbott shared how modern workplaces increasingly emphasise wellbeing, flexibility, purpose and psychological safety to motivate staff and encourage innovation. Both sessions linked directly to the BTEC Business Enterprise curriculum, giving students valuable real world examples for their final project. Teacher Robin Crewes said the talks were highly relevant and boosted students’ understanding and confidence as they begin their project work.

A ' Meet the New Head ' Coffee Morning held on Friday 13 February 2026 in the Gruggen Room brought together 35 former Pocklington School colleagues for a lively morning of reminiscing and conversation. The event also provided an informal opportunity for attendees to meet the new Head, Becky Lovelock. Becky spent time speaking with guests, listening to their insights and memories, and gaining a sense of the community shaped by staff over many decades. In a short address, she shared her first impressions of the School and outlined her vision for the future, whilst expressing appreciation for the dedication and service of all those present in helping to define its character and ethos.

Archive
Last term, Archivist, David‘ Doc’ Dyson gave me a book about the Second World War, as it had a connection to my family. It was then that I first asked him about the old memorabilia he had in the archive storage. That’ s when I had the idea of doing a 1st XV 25 / 26 photo in vintage kit- and naturally, Doc Dyson loved the idea!
It was amazing to see all of the old kit, including retro rugby shirts from the early 2000s. Even better, though, was being able to wear some old 1st XV caps. I’ d love for the school to start producing them again, perhaps for those who achieve full colours.
