Virginia Opera Presents: The Empress and the Nightingale

This adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s classic,
The Empress and the Nightingale, is a children’s story of a
small bird sharing her gift of song. With a cast of three performing original music, this opera vividly teaches the value
of music performed live and how
humans cannot control nature.

January 27th is the 70th
anniversary of the liberation of
Auschwitz and Richmond’s Jewish
and Cultural arts communities are
marking this momentous anniversary with a very special evening at the Symphony.
Founded in 1957, the Richmond Symphony is an orchestra of more than 70 professional musicians,
the 150-voice Richmond Symphony Chorus and more than 200 students in the Richmond Symphony Youth Orchestra Program. Each season, more than 250,000 members of the community enjoy
concerts, radio broadcasts, and educational outreach programs.
POA Party with Dueling Pianos

Dueling pianos are two baby grands, facing each other. The
piano players then put on an all-request show. Anything the
audience wants to hear, the players are sure to know. Whether
it’s 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, or current rap, country, or rock
and roll—anything you can imagine, they can perform.
A dueling piano show is extremely interactive and entertaining.
The audience is thoroughly involved and participates throughout the entire event. The crowd at this POA Party is sure to be
laughing, clapping, singing, dancing, and loving every minute the dynamic performers are on stage!
