How long does an apprenticeship take?
to RPA
An apprenticeship can take between one and four
years to complete, however, it depends on the type of
qualifications you take and the industry you work in.
Will I get any holidays?
Raising the participating age
You’ll get at least 20 days paid holiday a year plus bank
holidays – the same as any other employee.
How much does an apprenticeship cost?
The National Apprenticeship Service (NAS) pays the costs of
your training depending on your age. If you are aged 16-18,
NAS contributes up to 100% of the cost of your training.
If you are aged 19-24, your training is co-funded by NAS and
your employer.
What is a F
ramework?
There are a number of elements to each apprenticeship and
this is called the framework. This means you will get a
range of qualifications as you progress through your
training and education. Each apprenticeship framework
has four main strands:
A competence based element (NVQ)
A technical element (where required)
A functional skills element (where required)
Employment Rights and Responsibilities
The four strands are sometimes accompanied by additional
qualifications to give the most relevant skills and knowledge
required for the job that you are employed in.
Raising the participation age (RPA) does not mean
young people must stay in school. Our programmes meet
the recent changes within education and qualify with
meeting the RPA.
The government has increased the age to which all young
people in England must continue in education or training.
This means that pupils will now need to continue until at
least their 18th birthday.
