Break The Cycle Now!!
As women we all know the incredible hurdles and challenges we have and had to face throughout life because of the way we look. Hollywood and society has this image of how women should be and when we don’t conform to that image we are viewed as flawed and undesirable by society. If you have daughters, you know just how important it is to teach those young girls to love their bodies and accept themselves for who they are and not by what they see on movies, TV and magazines. Teaching your daughter to love her body is a wonderful thing and will be very beneficial in the long run, especially as they deal with those very problematic teen years. Here are a few tips to teach your daughters how to love their bodies.
1. Never allow your daughter to hear you degrading your own body and voicing out your increasing dislike in how you look. Daughters view their mothers as their role models and super moms because of all they can accomplish on their daily bases. It’s also no secret that daughters see their mothers as the most beautiful women ever. Because of that degrading your body will only cause your daughters to view their own body in a negative way.
2. Encourage your daughters to love their body and accept how they look. Encourage them to look in a mirror and admire their own figure, teach them to learn to love every part of their body as it is and not as society wants them to be. This will make them more pleased with their looks and more accepting of how they look.
3. Teach your daughters to see themselves as beautiful no matter how they look. They in your eyes and the eyes of their family are a beautiful women, so they should see themselves as beautiful and nothing less.
4. Limit the influence that teen magazines, entertainment magazines and movies will have on your daughters. During the teen years young girls become very easy to persuade and impress in ways that are not always appropriate ones. By limiting the influence of the main stream views of women your daughters will have will help them love their bodies even more and become more confident with themselves.
5. Teaching your daughters about the consequences of eating disorders is yet another way to prevent them from hating their bodies and trying to become someone they are not too please society. Teach them that they don’t need to be riddled with health issues due to eating disorders in order to consider themselves beautiful.
