PROJECT
Project challenges
Strydom Junior describes the challenges as
being primarily logistical and timeframes. “One
of the biggest challenges with this project was
the timeframe and logistics in getting material
on site in a timeous manner. The Knysna area
is quite remote and all stormwater and piping
parts had to be couriered in from Johannesburg.
This required considerable travel to Port
Elizabeth and other main centres in the region.
Plumblink was a considerable resource for us in
this regard.
“Here we must say a big thank you to Plumblink
in Knysna, particularly regional manager
Jacques Bruwer, branch manager Hennie
Theron and their whole team. These people
went out of their way to assist us with costing,

“Close cooperation between all parties involved
made the process of delivering a finished
product on time and within budget. Weekly
site meetings with the professional team
determining works in progress and planning
for the week ahead ensured that minimal
overlapping of trades took place and that the
workflow went smoothly.”

getting the suppliers on board to deliver on time
and sometimes even ahead of schedule,” says
Strydom.
Another attribute of the project was the need
to work systematically with other professionals
such as the architect and building contractor.
“The project was challenging in its need for
every aspect to blend seamlessly with every
other component,” says Strydom.
