BUSINESS AND TRAINING
Atlas Plastics
celebrates 50 years
By Eamonn Ryan
Atlas Plastics’ origins date back to 1969 when the
business was started in the garage of Les Lategan in
Klerksdorp. His two sons, Rene and Pierre, still run
the business today. To celebrate its 50th anniversary
Plumbing Africa paid the company a visit to unpack
the secrets of its longevity.
A highlight of Atlas Plastics’ recent history
was the acquisition in 2013 of their first
Reinhardt machine – the F1 of the roto
moulding industry. These machines are
renowned for their trouble-free operation
lasting generations. This was a major leap
in technology, says general manager Susan
Brand, from previous old electricity-based
machines.
