Securex South Africa, A-OSH EXPO
and Facilities Management Expo 2020
Three shows under one roof: this was the successful
experience of over 10 000 visitors to Gallagher
Convention Centre in May 2019. They were there to
experience the co-located trade shows that spanned
three different yet related working areas – Securex South
Africa, A-OSH EXPO and Facilities Management Expo.
A-OSH EXPO, Africa’s leading occupational health and safety
(OHS) exhibition, is celebrating its 10th anniversary. Turning
10 years old is a milestone achievement for any trade expo,
and Specialised Exhibitions has experienced phenomenal
growth and interest in this expo area. Since the show’s
inception, there has been a keen and growing awareness of the
importance of health and safety issues in the workplace, from
both the employer’s as well as the employee’s perspective.
As an exhibitor, it is an incredibly effective way to engage face-
to-face with your target market and your potential audience,
while as a visitor, it is an excellent opportunity to compare
different sector options, educate yourself quickly and efficiently
on the latest trends, and engage with industry experts and
your peers. Last year’s visitors also noted the inherent sense
and convenience of having the three shows situated all
together under one roof, with one visitor commenting.
The three shows are expected to feature more than 300
exhibitors and bring approximately 10 000 visitors through
the doors across all three show-days, including around 300
international visitors from some 20 countries. The top African
countries represented have historically included Botswana,
Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Mauritius and Namibia
Plumbing, mechanical industry and water efficiency
leaders to co-convene seventh Emerging Technology
Symposium in 2020
Preparations are underway to ensure that the 2020 Emerging
Water Technology Symposium (EWTS), to be held May 12-13,
2020, at the Westin Riverwalk in San Antonio, is the most
comprehensive and informative event since the symposium
debuted in 2008. Online registration is available at www.aspe.
org/2020-ewts-registration.
An unprecedented number of organisations, representing
the foremost leaders in the plumbing industry, have signed
on to present the symposium as co-conveners. They are:
American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE), the Alliance
for Water Efficiency (AWE), the International Association of
Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO), and Plumbing
Manufacturers International (PMI), in cooperation with the
World Plumbing Council (WPC).

Sven Smit, event director at Specialised Exhibitions, says that
now part of the Montgomery Group, the combined 2020 event
promises to provide even more across this triple offering,
under the banner ‘2020 Vision’.

“The participation of such a diverse and widely respected
group of organisations in the planning and presentation of this
seventh Emerging Water Technology Symposium will certainly
make it the most important plumbing technology event in
North America in 2020,” says IAPMO CEO GP Russ Chaney.
“IAPMO is honoured to be part of what will no doubt be an
historic forum for innovation and for addressing the challenges
in delivering safe water in and around buildings.”
Building upon a highly successful and globally acclaimed
formula refined during six previous symposiums (Chicago,
2008; Ontario, Calif., 2010; Washington, D.C., 2012 and
2014; Chicago, 2016; and Ontario, Calif., 2018), the event will
gather plumbers, contractors, engineers, manufacturers, water
efficiency experts and academia to introduce new technologies
for the plumbing industry, and discuss how policy initiatives
can drive the introduction of these technologies to market and
advance the cause of water and energy efficiency.
The EWTS is designed to provide a portal for the host
organisations’ partners in the manufacturing, engineering and
trade industries to display and demonstrate their innovative
solutions to legislative and regulatory developments that often
alter industry landscapes.
Sponsors, presenters and panellists participating in this
symposium represent a diverse body of knowledge in the
fields of:
• Water, sanitation and health;
• Water and energy efficiency;
• Water reuse;
• Addressing ageing water infrastructure;
• Water quality;
• Mitigating opportunistic pathogens;
• Advancements in mechanical systems;
• Plumbing research initiatives;
• Laws, regulations and policy development; and
• Topics raised by audience participants during the
symposium. PA
