Training that empowers Africa ’ s future artisans

Whilst still training according to the QCTO modules , the recentlylaunched BluLever Education apprenticeship takes training a step further by starting apprentices off with a leadership course , called ‘ Leadership Base Camp ’. The course consists of four weeks at base camp , two weeks on campus and two weeks of workplace exposure .
Only then does apprenticeship training start , as laid out per the curriculum .
The programme , enabled in partnership with Harambee and IOPSA , has recently accepted their first batch of appies . This group of appies , who have completed the Leadership Base Camp are made up of 15 women and 15 men .
The group is kept to 30 at a time , it ’ s a three-year course of : three months theory , nine months practical , repeated per annum .
The leadership course is suitably called ‘ Learn to lead yourself ’.
There is a good mix of group and self-work activities , including budgeting , wellness , and mindset . This allows one to grow within oneself in confidence , initiative , independence , adaptability , and excellence . Other critical factors are communication skills , keeping oneself fit , time management and work ethics .
