Nedbank sponsors

Enterprise Development Programme for plumbers

By
Debbie Donaldson
Nedbank Group , via Nedbank Insurance , is funding an enterprise development intervention that develops individuals to support black-owned enterprises in the plumbing industry . This opportunity offers individuals an entrepreneurial career in plumbing with direct economic benefit to the participants and their communities .
This uniquely-designed programme is performance-based , enabling candidates to potentially save their vehicle deposit , purchase tools and equipment they will need to start their own business , and develop a network of support before they commence trading .
The 12 successful candidates are a unique combination of previously unemployed and employed men and women and a recently qualified plumber ( specialising in solar , heat pumps , and leak detection ).
The programme ’ s objective is for participants to have the opportunity to qualify and register / license with the Plumbing Industry Registration Board ( PIRB ), develop their entrepreneurial skills , and open a new business to potentially service Nedbank claims as of May 2024 .
This initiative is facilitated through ‘ Because YOU ’ RE worth it ’ supported by The Institute of Plumbing South Africa as the lead
