sealant and bonding solutions for plumbing and
building professionals, Vansan Pumps – the wholesale
supplier of the international brand of surface pumps,
borehole/submersible pumps and solutions for larger
civil projects, STP compression and electrofusion HDPE
fittings and clamping products and Lecico South Africa
– one of the largest importers of ceramics into the
country for the last two decades.
The afternoon proceeded with around 25 plumbers
coming through and spending time interacting with the
various brands, including some practical demonstrations
of pipe preparation and fusion welding, experiencing
the feel of the power tools, the inner-workings of water
meters and pipe bonding and tape applications, to
name a few.
Visitors were also invited to share in some boerewors
rolls and beers, and with the comfortable atmosphere
there was also sharing of their experiences,
challenges, various product benefits (and downfalls),
and how the industry has developed over the years.
Stories were also shared of the types of work the
plumber sometimes has to tackle in their day-to-day
lives, which involve some quite intense situations.
“We believe it is important to have these sorts of
events now and again because it allows the plumber
to experience the product in a relaxed space where
they can test them out, ask questions and get an

to also understand the product ranges that we offer and
their application,” says Malcolm Harris, managing director
of Harscan.
