Energy savings for a gracious old lady

By
Rory Macnamara
In the quiet suburb bordering Parktown Jo ’ burg this ‘ Gracious Old Lady ” of a building saves bucks !
Princess Towers is one of the well-built and solid blocks of flats in the area and has been around for decades . Looks as good as the day she was built but with older technology that costs a great deal of money to run today , especially as costs have increased over the years .
The owners looked for an effective and efficient system that would reduce water cost as well as provide hot water without the waste of running cold water until it gets hot .
Heat pumps were the answer but sadly most of the quotes did not consider the most cost-effective way of achieving savings .
MD Air Conditioning Refrigeration and Water Heating specialists , known for innovation in extending the use of heat pumps in the domestic market , now had the challenge of a commercial application , not their first but working with some massive tanks .
