The Tyrwhitt Apartments , completed at the end of 2020 , offers guests further convenience with a restaurant on the street level of the building , 24-hour concierge , state of the art security and ample underground parking , giving it an international feel in a burgeoning commercial and residential node . Close to the Gautrain station and all amenities including schools , The Tyrwhitt ( rhymes with spirit ) is situated in the leafy suburb of Rosebank .
The Consultants were responsible for the water and waste reticulation system , natural gas reticulation , fire systems ( including sprinklers , basement ventilation and smoke clearance system , hose reel / hydrants , fire detection and PA evacuation ) and HVAC .
We focus on the plumbing and mechanical side of the design and installation . The drainage installation consisted of waste drainage for all internal appliances for each apartment from residential level one to level 13 .
Some of the shower piping UPVC , and some bath and handwash basins had to be positioned before the concrete slab was cast . All piping here was in UPVC . Drainpipes above the restaurant and Reception areas to be piped in HDPE . Cleaner ’ s room to have a toilet on one ( 1 ) floor and a slop hopper on the next floor alternating from level one to level 13 . These will connect to the main 110 mm diameter pipe on Parkade 2 soffit .
There are several 110mm diameter stacks dropping from the top floors down to level five , Parkade 2 . All these stacks connect to the main 160mm diameter drainpipe dropping down to basement two and connecting to the existing municipal sewer connection provided by the Civil Engineer .
Rodding eyes are installed at the correct intervals and junctions and inspection eyes installed at every junction . Each stack has its own individual 110mm diameter vent at the top of the stack at its inlet point on the roof .
In the event of overflow or draining of the sprinkler water storage tank in basement three , two submersible pumps are situated in a 11 250-litre sump inside the sprinkler plant room . The sump connects to the main 200mm diameter waste pipe to drain to the main sewer connection . The drain and overflow connections supplied with the tank are piped to the sump via galvanised steel piping . A 12 500L sump with two submersible pumps is used for the overflow or draining of the main Domestic / Hose reel & Hydrant water tank located in the Domestic cold water plant room in Basement three . These sump pumps are also connected to the main Ø200 sewer line . The main Domestic / Hose reel & Hydrant water tank overflows and drainpipes are galvanised steel piping .
