Poole’ s Store has seen its fair share of economic struggle and closings and re-openings, but its resilience is a testament to the current owners and the Poole family that sustain it, and the devoted customers and community that support it.
Regular customers drive out of their way to buy supplies that come with a warm welcome and friendly service. Many would love to see the return of drinks, snacks, and a wider variety of general merchandise, and even the deli counter with homemade take-out food. We can hope, right?
The idea of the general store conjures nostalgia for a time gone by, and for the older among us, fond memories of a lifestyle that no longer exists. With a few exceptions scattered across the country, mostly in small towns, general stores have been squeezed out by big box stores and large chain specialty stores, as well as high real estate costs. Fortunately, Poole’ s Store has beaten the odds. Many Ag Reserve residents and visitors are very grateful that this charming store is back and thriving.

“ Brian helped us buy a home we love and sold our previous home— and the entire experience from the initial search to SOLD was phenomenal. He is extremely responsive, an absolute expert in this region and helped us navigate the complex and often emotional processes of both buying and selling with professionalism. We’ re so grateful for his hard work and guidance through the entire process and without a doubt will use Brian again in the future!” – Emma Jagoz
