People will try to hold you down, so watch what you say about your plans to transform you into your calling because they might not have your best interest at heart. They will also not have your back, but rather, talk behind your back. I realized that the friends I thought I had were not my friends, especially when they realized what profession I was going into. Yes, I love to sing, and they were sure I would go into that arena, but I followed my heart and my calling, and you can do the same. Your dream when you were younger is still possible whether you do it in a small way or a grand way. The most important thing is to tell yourself I am somebody, and no one will take that away from me. Overlook haters and naysayers, and regardless to age, you can be who you are designed to be. Believe in YOU, because you are special in a great way.
Ladies, please stop accepting the first man who come along. Learn to listen to the inner voice given to you. Deep within, you know he was not good for you, but you took him in anyway, and look what happened. As The Staple Singers said, respect YOURSELF. If you disrespect everybody that you run in to, how in the world do you think everybody's s'posed to respect you? If you don't give a heck about the man with the bible in his hand, just get out the way, and let the gentleman do his thing. You the kind of WOMAN/gentleman that want everything your way. Take the sheet off your face, boy/GIRL, it's a brand new day. Chorus: Respect yourself, respect yourself. If you don't respect yourself ain't nobody gonna give a good cahoot, na na na na, respect yourself, respect yourself.
