The Hidromek Alpha series has a spacious and comfortable interior, and
considering its weight, is exceptionally easy to handle.
According to Ellis, the Alpha series is
strong, long-lasting and is extremely
reliable. The machine has been in South
Africa for more than 10 years and was
initially distributed by Imperial. “It’s a
powerful machine mostly because of
the extra weight and superior strength.
In dealing with stockpiles and loading
it has the biggest front bucket and
also the biggest front tyres. The
emphasis is on high performance,
high productivity, strength and
reliability. Because of its strength and
robustness, it’s a machine that can run
for a very long time,” says Ellis.
As I left the cab, I thought of Tyson, Ali and
Foreman, and whether it’s about brute strength,
intelligence, size, speed or all of the above. In
the end it doesn’t really matter whether you
sting like a bee or float like a butterfly, as long
as the job gets done. But if you have all of the
aforementioned talents, well, then you are
punching above your weight.
