During my presentation, I weave in a variety of
activities. Depending on the amount of time and
intended outcome of the event, they’ll participate in
conversations, games and reflection activities. I sent
one group on a scavenger hunt, that was very fun! PMR: What’s next for Wendy?
My favorite activity is having the audience choose
the behaviors they’ll shift after participating in my
presentation. I’m creating more international relationships to
spread the Joy Factor message globally. In December,
I’ll be in Dubai, sharing my Recipes for Success talk!
When I am brought in as a closing keynoter, I help
them clarify their learning's and create an action plan
at their table. They break the plan down into doable
steps based on activities they enjoy. My purpose, and what is always next on my agenda,
is to have more people let us merge in traffic. Think
about it, when your Joy Factor is high, you’ll let
anyone in. When you are not feeling the joy, no one
is getting in front of you!
PMR: What are some tips you’d offer to meeting
professionals that would improve event attendance
or audience interaction?
WW: If possible, survey participants prior to the
meeting with what would be most impactful for their
experience and communicate that to the speaker. If
you want the presentation to be interactive, use round
tables rather than theatre style, as it’s more conducive
to interaction between attendees. Place a board in the
back of the room with sticky notes for participants to
share their aha’s. The organization can use that to
reinforce the learnings for continuous improvement.
PMR: After your speech is over, walk us through
what you do next.
WW: I create a private webpage on my site, if
allowed, for the conference attendees.
It’s
personalized with pictures from the event alongside
the resources I shared with them. Depending on the
agreement, I’ll offer a follow-up call to participants.
This helps increase accountability after the “buzz” of
the conference is over.
PMR: If you could change one thing about events,
what would it be and why?
WW: People crave more time for networking. Some
conferences are so jam packed, attendees don’t have
time to connect with others and talk about what they
just learned.

WW: Connecting with like-minded people to help
raise their Joy Factor and create a delicious life. I’ll
continue to learn and grow and build supportive
relationships to help each other grow.
