Quarterly Performance Check-in

Goals & performance Pay

This section of The PLA Coaching Cycle allows for principals to discuss their PTG each quarter with their manager. Goals keep us focused on the intended outcomes. If we don't periodically check in, understand the progress to our goals, and adjust our actions, it will be difficult to meet our goals by the end of the year.

Each principal will choose three top-line goals that support our overall network goals. These three goals will factor into overall performance scores and performance pay if your board has approved this. In addition, each leader will choose 2 goals that do not factor into your overall performance score and there is no performance pay associated with them. In all, each leader will have 5 total goals.

Goal Setting Window:

September 30th - December 31st

PTG Check-in #1:

October- during the BOY Instructional Review Debrief

PTG Check-in #2:

January- during MOY Principal Evaluation Debrief

PTG Check-in #3:

April- during the EOY Instructional Review Debrief

PTG Check-in #4:

August- during the final EOY Principal Evaluation Debrief

If your school board has approved a performance pay bonus, pay out for meeting goals will happen in November/December.

What should these conversations look like for each quarter?

Each principal should fill in their updates under each goal for the current quarter prior to the conversation with their manager.

What should principals include in their stepback update with their manager?

1. Current percent to goal

2. What current strategies were successful or not successful?

3. How will you adjust strategies for this next quarter to ensure you meet your goals?

4. Feedback from the manager
