FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL READY
Is your building and staff ready for the first day of school? There are so many pieces that go into ensuring that our scholars are set up for success. The success of your first day of school is completely dependent upon your planning for this day.
TRANSPORTATION
- Are buses secured for this next school year? (if campus uses buses)
- Do you know the bus routes?
- Have the times been communicated to families?
- Are you tagging scholars on the first day of school? i.e. Each bus is assigned a color to place in their window and scholars get that same color band on their bookbag or wrist.
LUNCH ROOM
- Do students have access to their lunch ID if they need it?
- Enlist volunteers to help during lunch for the first couple of weeks: keeping scholars moving, montitoring scholars, opening containers or condiment packets.
- Ensuring therr are clear lunch room procedures and expections.
SCHOOL-WIDE EXPECTIONS ARE POSTED IN COMMON AREAS & PRACTICED
ATTENDANCE
- Attendance should be taken twice (am and pm) on paper for each classroom EVERY DAY as well as the SIS for the first two weeks.
- Designee should collect the attendance sheets for the office
- Office and teachers should reach out to each family that did not show up and make a personal call
"Hello, I am Mrs. Smith. We missed seeing ________ at school today. I am calling to see if you have everything you need to get him to school tomorrow. We can't wait to see _______ and get him started with his new teacher."
