Building leaders are expected to:

Summer Advantage is NOT responsible for scholar enrollment. They are responsible for providing the programming to scholars once enrolled. You, as the school leader, are expected to lead a targeted summer enrollment effort by communicating with your families (either directly or through teachers) about the opportunity. Because the program always has limited seating, it is recommended that you target scholars/families that would benefit the most from the program. This is not the place to put scholars with attendance issues - you have limited seats. Your ability to fill those seats with the scholars that will benefit the most is important to the impact the program can help you make in your school.

Lead scholar enrollment

Summer Advantage will lead the recruitment and hiring process for the summer team, but their preference is to always give first right of refusal to your current teachers. Summer Teaching opportunities are generally highly sought after - and this is a perk for our current PLA teachers. Again, it is our expectation that you promote these opportunities to your current teachers as not only an opportunity to earn additional income - but a great way to continue impacting our scholars.

Summer Advantage will provide you with fliers and other marketing materials to support your ability to promote the summer teaching opportunities. Current PLA teachers just have to submit an interest form via a Google link. From there, they will be contacted directly by SA to review the dates, times, expectations of their role, and the pay.

You will be asked to approve the list of current interested staff before SA officially moves forward with hiring them for summer teaching roles. This helps ensure that any current struggling teachers are flagged.

Promote summer teaching opportunities to current staff

School partners are responsible for facilities, transportation, and food. SA generally works directly with PLA Operations to coordinate these elements, but please understand that these are all areas that you may be asked to support in some capacity.

Facilities, transportation & food

In addition to leading scholar enrollment and promoting the opportunities to your current staff, you are expected to support the overall success of the program. This includes ensuring that SA has access to needed facilities and equipment to support our scholars over the summer. This program is a partnership - and your active support is necessary for the partnership to be successful.

Support the overall success of the program
